Hathmale Ella

Hatmale Falls is one of the most unique waterfalls in the country. Hatmale Falls in the Matara District is located in the beautiful village of Kolavenigama near Deniyaya. To get to Hatmale Falls you have to take a flight of steps down the road. The waterfall is 45 meters high and 10 meters wide and is formed by the river Ganga. Hatmale Falls is the tallest waterfall in the Ganges. Unlike other waterfalls, this waterfall cascades down, making the surroundings even more spectacular. The water of this waterfall gradually flows from layer to layer and falls into seven chains or seven layers, hence it is called “Hatmale Falls”. There are four pits on which the stream rests.
